Created in collaboration with Gregory Yang Design in New York, the project proposes new interior lobbies and gathering areas for an advertising firm's world headquarters on 3 floors of a mid-town Manhattan high rise. The design strategy establishes an array of architectural sleeves inserted within the existing three floors of offices. In lobbies, graphics warp in real time behind an array of lenses inviting user inquiry through unexpected moments of magnified discoveries. Operating as a hub between all floors, the Creative Space functions as a communal zone large enough to allow for free-flowing exchange between employees. Conceived as a reconstitution of existing walls, its amorphous form is nestled amidst existing spaces, and integrates continuous surfaces of wall/ceiling/floor via a flexible system of wooden panels and neoprene rubber. Adjacent conference rooms are wrapped from floor to ceiling in padded wrestling mats providing sound isolation during strenuous negotiations. |
